Your projects and patterns stay on your phone. We measure app and website use with PostHog, without accounts or advertising IDs. You can turn app analytics off in Settings. You can ask us to delete data about you. Store name: Rowloft: Crochet Counter.

1. What never happens
- The Rowloft app has no account, no sign-in and no sync server. Nothing you make is uploaded or used to train anything.
- Your pattern files, project names, counts, yarn records and notes have no network path out of the app.
- App analytics never carry pattern files, pattern filenames, page counts, project names, yarn names, notes, counter values, your name or anything you type. We use no advertising identifier and do not track you across other apps.
- Website analytics exclude counter values, notes and form text. We do not record your screen or automatically track other clicks.
2. Data we touch
2.1 Purchase and entitlement
Data: the store receipt and transaction identifiers for the Pro purchase, plus an anonymous app-instance identifier.
Used to: unlock Pro, restore it on a new device, and keep it working offline from a local cache.
Who: Apple App Store or Google Play takes the payment; RevenueCat checks the receipt. We never see your card number.
Basis: performing the purchase contract.
Kept: by the store under its own terms; by RevenueCat while Rowloft is on sale, so Restore purchase keeps working. A failed check never drops a paying user back to Free.
2.2 Data on your device
Data: a local SQLite database holding your projects, counters and counter events, pattern file paths and reading positions, pattern notes, yarn entries and settings (US/UK terminology, theme, haptics).
Used to: run the app. It is read by nothing else.
Kept: until you export, delete or uninstall. Export is free and lossless (JSON, CSV and your pattern files as they are). "Delete everything" clears the device after a second confirmation.
2.3 App usage analytics
Data: screens opened and time on each, features used (counting, pattern imports by type, new projects, the upgrade screen, purchases, restores, the rating prompt), and app errors. Each event records the app version, platform, device model and whether Apple Ads led to the install. A random app identifier, shared with RevenueCat, links these events to purchases.
Used to: find where people get stuck and see which ads work.
Who: PostHog, in the United States, with location lookup off and no screen recording.
Basis: our legitimate interest in improving the app.
Your choice: Settings → Share anonymous usage data is on by default. Turn it off and the app stops sending events.
Kept: until you ask us to delete it, quoting the app identifier in Settings.
2.4 Support email
Data: what you write to hello@rowloft.com, and your address.
Used to: answer you.
Kept: 12 months after the thread closes.
2.5 The website
rowloft.com sets no cookies of ours and keeps no access log; hosting providers see your IP address to deliver the page.
Data: page visits and departures, traffic-source labels, store-button clicks, browser and session identifiers, and website error types and code locations.
Used to: compare traffic sources, count visits that reach a store link and fix website errors.
Who: PostHog processes these events in the United States. We disable location lookup and strip unrelated URL parameters, fragments and error-message text.
Basis: our legitimate interest in measuring website traffic and keeping the site working.
Kept: until you request deletion using your browser identifier. Website events have no automatic expiry.
The browser identifier stays in local storage until you clear Rowloft's site data. Source labels stay in session storage for 30 minutes, or until the tab session ends, and store links pass them to Apple or Google.
The online row counter saves your completed count, row/round unit, repeat length and note in this browser's local storage.
Used to: restore your place in the same browser. It is never uploaded or synced with the app.
Kept: until you change it or clear Rowloft's site data.
3. Processors
- Apple App Store and Google Play — payment and receipts (United States).
- RevenueCat — entitlement verification (United States), under its data processing terms.
- Hosting and security providers — delivery and protection of site traffic (United States).
- PostHog — app usage analytics and website traffic and error analytics (United States).
Nobody else receives data from Rowloft. We do not sell data and we show no advertising.
4. Your rights
Where data-protection law gives you rights (such as in the EU or UK), you can ask us to show, correct, delete, restrict, export or stop using data about you. You can also complain to your local supervisory authority. Write to hello@rowloft.com; we answer within one month. For analytics, include the app identifier from Settings or your Rowloft browser identifier so we can find the events. App data stays under the export and "Delete everything" controls; the store handles purchase records.
5. Children
Rowloft is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect children's personal data. Contact us if a child has sent us data.
6. Changes
We announce material app changes in the update notes before they take effect. Website changes appear on the site before new processing begins.
